healthy breakfasts

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day", yes we know.

So what do I eat for breakfast? These are 3 of my go-to options when I am not shoveling a big bowl of oats down my throat. 


1) A sexy smoothie


I love making breakfast smoothies. I get to combine a bunch of ingredients, whizz them up, and then feel like I'm indulging in a milkshake. These are usually my base ingredients, and then I'll add whatever else is in the fridge and pantry that day (things like berries and greens powders). So my usual ingredients include some sort of leafy green (kale or baby spinach), Almond Breeze milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, chia seeds, and a banana to make it nice and thick! 



  2) Good ol' avo on toast


Ok so this one is an oldie but a goodie. I eat this at any time of the day, but it is one of my favourite breakfast options. I also like to order this when I eat out for breakie with extra fried banana and mushrooms. 



3) Vegan fry-up


Weekends are for fry-ups at Casa de Souza, and we take these meals very seriously. The base is usually mushrooms, banana, leafy greens, and tofu, but this weekend we made do with what we had in the fridge, kale, tomatoes, asparagus, turnips, and chillies of course! Once I've fried some onions and garlic in olive oil, I'll add these ingredients along with some soy sauce and seasoning and fry it all together. Pop it on some fresh bread or toast, add some tahini on-top and you've got the best damn breakfast in the world.
